Our Core Values
The core values of a church are what makes a church, a church. These core values form the foundation on which we perform ministry, clarify who we are, articulate what we stand for, guide us on how to teach and direct us in making decisions. Our core values provide us with a sense of direction and cohesion in what we do.
BIBLICAL AUTHORITY
"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that all God's people may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." 2 Timothy 3:16-17
Because God has revealed Himself and His Truth in the Bible, we recognize it as the final authority for our lives. We believe the Bible to be the inspired, infallible Word of God. It is the hinge-pin for everything we believe, teach and practice.
CULTURAL RELEVANCE
"Yes whatever a person is like, I try to find common ground with him so that he will let me tell him about Christ and let Christ save him." 1 Cor 9:22
Every aspect of ministry should be strategically designed and implemented in order to effectively connect and communicate God’s Truth to its target audience. God’s word never changes, but cultures do. Therefore we will anchor ourselves to His age-less truths but gear the style with which we present those truths to the times in which we live.
INTIMACY WITH GOD
"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength." Mark 12:30
Because we were created to love God, and be loved by God, we recognize that God wants to have an intimate relationship with each one of us. We believe it is our responsibility as the Church, to provide opportunities for members to develop a growing intimacy with God. Intimacy with God comes through both corporate worship and personal worship. Through prayer, and through the Study of His Word, to get to know Him better each day and love Him more.
RELATIONAL OUTREACH
"The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother Simon and tell him, ‘We have found the Messiah’ (that is, the Christ). And he brought him to Jesus ..." John 1:41-42
"Then Jesus came to them and said, 'All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit ... " Matthew 28:18-19
God’s message of love, forgiveness and redemption through Jesus Christ, is most effectively conveyed in the context of personal relationships. We believe that a life will reach a life. Each Christ-follower develops genuine relationships with friends and family and extends an invitation to them. Outreach gets to be a normal, natural lifestyle of winning others to Christ, one by one. Through these genuine relationships, a verbal witness is given or an invitation extended, and often an unchurched person becomes willing to investigate the claims of Christianity.
AUTHENTIC COMMUNITY
"Your strong love for each other will prove to the world that you are my disciples." John 13:35
"Show special love for God's people." 1 Peter 2:17
Being a Christ-follower is more than believing. It is about belonging, accountability, and spiritual growth. And those are best achieved with relationally-connected believers. One of the best ways to achieve this value is through Life Groups. In Life Groups we can support one another, Live God’s Word together, graciously remind one another of what we believe and hold each other accountable.
INTENTIONAL SERVING
"For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." Ephesians 2:10
"God has given each of you some special abilities; be sure to use them to help each other ... " 1 Peter 4:10
Service within the body of Christ is the pathway to real significance. It is through serving that we discover the meaning of our lives. We value the efforts of dedicated volunteers who use their gifts, talents and abilities to serve God by serving others.
We are a servant church. Each Christ-follower will find his/her greatest joy and fulfillment when serving in his/her gifts and passion. As each person discovers his/her gifts, the church will run together with maximum effectiveness and minimum weariness. We are called the body of Christ, not the collection of body parts for Christ. Everyone has a place, a function and a purpose.
